New! Finders and Keepers: A Who’s Who of Museum Collectors Wed. Oct. 28, 2009, 1:00pm-2:30pm & Thurs. Nov. 19, 2009, 1:00pm-2:30pm Unlike larger natural science museums whose collections often grew from expeditions, the Museum of Natural History depended on local, private collectors for its growth. The Museum opened in the late 19th century, during the height of popular interest in natural history collecting as a hobby. Nearly everyone indulged a passion for gathering elements of the natural world. Learn who these people were, the collectors and donors who shaped the Museum’s growth and direction in its early years. The People’s University: The Museum through Time Tues. Sept. 29, 2009 11:00am-12:30pm & Tues. Oct 20, 2009, 11:00am-12:30pm

residence? Who built the museum and where are the exhibits I remember
seeing here as a child? Join Museum Docent Jack Doll for answers to these
and other questions as we explore the Museum inside and out on a historic
trip through time. Jack will focus on the architectural history of the
building and augment the tour with images from our archives. Click here for a registration form.
