
MNH 40th Apollo Anniversary Celebration
Just after midnight, December 7, 1972, Apollo 17 escaped the bounds of Earth as the 11th and final manned mission to the Moon. On Saturday, December 8, 2012, the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium commemorates the 40th anniversary of the mission with actual Moon rocks, meteorites, NEW FULL DOME Astronaut planetarium show at 1pm and 2pm, family activities, and more.

The exploration of space is the greatest endeavor that humankind has ever undertaken. What does it take to be part of this incredible journey? What does it take to become an astronaut? This planetarium show takes you from Earth into space ... and beyond! Presented in high-definition fulldome digital video with explosive surround sound, "Astronaut" is an adventure unlike anything you've ever encountered.
"Astronaut" is narrated by Ewan McGregor and produced by the National Space Centre.
From 12:30pm-3:30pm: NASA Moon Rocks, Family Fun Activities, Special Museum Quest.
Free admission to the Museum and discounted planetarium admission ($2 per person) for visitors bringing a canned or gently used book to donate.
