Welcome to our Neighborhood Markets Program
David N. Cicilline, Mayor

Providence Neighborhood Markets celebrate the best of the city's neighborhoods - where history, architecture, culture, and community are coming together to make Providence one of the most dynamic and exciting cities in the nation.  Our Providence Neighborhood Markets website page is hosted by a collaborative initiative of the city's Department of Planning and Development and Providence Economic Development Partnership. Established in 2005, the goal of the Neighborhood Markets program is to improve the overall quality of life in the city's neighborhoods by improving and empowering local business districts, which are the heart of community life and the source of community identity.  Neighborhood Markets is a long-term strategy to revitalize neighborhoods by; investing in public infrastructure; financial and technical assistance for business start-up and expansion and capital improvements; and by providing grant programs to improve streets and storefronts. The Providence Neighborhood Markets program takes its vision from National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street program, a self-help model for individuals, organizations, government entities and communities seeking to revitalize commercial districts, housing, neighborhoods and buildings.
