CRANSTON STREET
Entering Cranston Street, you cannot help notice life is anything but quiet in this fast paced, diverse, historic Neighborhood Market area. Enter from downtown Providence and you see the imposing Cranston Street Armory (ca. 1907) and surrounding Armory Historic District. Enter from Route 10 and, you are greeted by the historic Josephine White Block (ca. 1894). What is in between? More than 59 merchants serving the West End - the largest neighborhood in the city.
The area awakens before 7:00 a.m. with residents and businesses gathering for coffee and breakfast at the local diner...then slowly…storefronts open ready to take on the day….
A new generation of merchants and residents is leading the way on Cranston Street….living and working in the Neighborhood Market area…thinking ahead about ways to keep the momentum of change going….and they want you to join them….
With owners representing historic Providence as well as cultures from around the world….you can't miss the music playing on Cranston Street…
With early morning, lunch and late night eateries, lemonade and ice cream stands, furriers and leather goods, auto accessories and dealerships, markets and furniture stores, insurance and financial companies, limousine and coach services, clothing stores, ethnic markets, hardware and plumbing supplies, tailoring and dry cleaners, hairstylists and barbers, pharmacies, wines and spirits, churches and nonprofit organizations and more…..each merchant is creating a new rhythm for the City of Providence...
We know you will feel the beat!
