When you walk the Hope Street merchant area, on the historic East Side of Providence, you envision a place in time when streetcars would stop and go along the busy thoroughfare. Part of the Hope neighborhood of Providence, Hope Street is located between the Summit Neighborhood and Blackstone Neighborhood Historic Districts, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A wonderful place for any day trip with great food, including bakeries, restaurants, catering, and coffee as well as gift, home furnishings and interior design, local art, resale, knitting, toy, performing arts, jewelry, and women's clothing stores among its many retail merchants. Local neighborhood amenities include the religious, financial and real estate services as well.
The Hope Street Merchants Association is a very active group working hard to promote the area with holiday and seasonal street fairs, plantings and lightings, new street furniture and year round advertising all designed to make Hope Street your choice as a visitor destination.
