Wayland Square is located within the Wayland Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The surrounding 122 acre Wayland Historic District is notable for its collection of late 19th- and early 20th-century houses and stately apartment buildings including an eclectic mix of late 19th-century and early 20th-century styles, including Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival and Craftsman.
