Parks Department partners with Brown University and RI Resource Recovery to provide residents with free compost.
On Friday, April 22nd at 10am the Parks Department will be delivering 4-5 cubic yards of "Grade A" compost to the Brown University Football Stadium on Elmgrove Avenue. Providence residents should bring buckets, bags and/or 1 trash bin (NOT a big green can) to pick up their share of the free compost the city is offering.
Composting creates useful product from organic waste that would otherwise have been landfilled. The free compost can be used in indoor and outdoor gardens and to improve soil quality in your yard.
• Compost enriches soils
• Compost helps cleanup (remediate) contaminated soil
• Compost helps prevent pollution
• Using compost offers economic benefits
The free compost was made possible in partnership with Brown University and Rhode Island Resource Recovery. The City of Providence will be providing free "Grade A" compost to residents in celebration of Earth Day, while supply lasts.
