New England Patriots Help Providence Children Build Playground

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

More than 200 volunteers turn out to build playground at Dexter Training Ground.

On Tuesday, October 11, fifteen New England Patriots and more than 200 volunteers helped children and residents of the West Broadway neighborhood build a dream playground.

The new playground, located at the Dexter Training Ground, was based on drawings created by neighborhood children who participated in a Design Day event in August. This is the sixth built by KaBOOM! and UnitedHealthcare as part of the latter's "Do Good. Live Well." initiative - a campaign to inspire service and volunteerism among the company's employees. This Providence project represents one of more than 150 playground builds KaBOOM! will lead across the country in 2011 in an effort to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.

The effort was made possible by UnitedHealthcare, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association (WBNA), the Providence Parks + Recreation Department, and KaBOOM!
