Southside Community Land Trust Hosts Urban Agriculture Spring Kickoff March 2nd

Southside Community Land Trust invites the public to its 4^th Annual Urban Agriculture Spring Kickoff on Saturday, March 2^nd, from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is a family-friendly food-growing event that gears community members up for the coming growing season. It will be hosted at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center where attendees can celebrate urban agriculture with fellow food-growers and enthusiasts in the warmth surrounded by unique and exotic plants.

The event will feature light refreshments, showcasing ingredients that can be grown in the garden, and tables with tips from experts on composting, seed starting, water conservation with rain barrels, seed saving, urban bee and chicken keeping, organic fertilizers and pesticides, and maple syrup tapping. SCLT will also raffle off three fabulous prizes, including a rain barrel, a gift certificate to the Plant Sale and SCLT membership combo, and a tree.

SCLT will also launch the 2013 Plant Providence Calendar, revealing a full-color poster of the food-growing events and workshops going on throughout the year. This year's line-up introduces some new and exciting workshops, including a series on International Growing and Cooking, while bringing back some favorites from the previous year, such as Urban Beekeeping and Canning.
