On or about June 30, 2013 the City of Providence acting through its Department of Planning and Development will submit a request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the release of Neighborhood Stabilization Program III funds.
In October 2011, the ULI Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership named Providence Mayor Angel Taveras to its 2011-2012 Class of Daniel Rose Fellows. As part of this program, Providence has selected to focus on job creation and urban revitalization in Olneyville Square.
Seizing the opportunity to revitalize the City and attract new investment, Mayor Taveras challenged the IBM Smarter Cities team to create actionable recommendations for a new data-driven land-use management system.
The City of Providence is now conducting the Transportation Corridors to Livable Communities study, an innovative project which will improve bus service, encourage mixed-income housing, generate jobs and build on our reputation as the “The Creative Capital” of Rhode Island by showcasing arts and cultural opportunities.
The City of Providence GIS Portal provides users with online mapping capability and access to published municipal data sets (including, but not limited to, zoning, parcels and building footprints).
