Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
Working with local organizations to improve the quality of life for low-income residents of the Providence Metropolitan area that are living with HIV/AIDS.
What is HOPWA?
The Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS program was created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address the specific needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS and their families, particularly in the area of housing and supportive services. Each year, the city receives funding to support these services in the Providence metropolitan area, including parts of Massachusetts, from HUD. These grant funds are passed on to eligible organizations through an annual competitive grant process.
