
Dorrance Street Homicide
PROVIDENCE, RI- On April 2 at approximately 2121 hours Providence Police were dispatched to 11 Dorrance Street (McCormick & Schmick's) for a report of a stabbing. The victim, Charlie Otero, age 18, suffering from a single stab wound to the chest, had entered the restaurant and collapsed. Otero was conscious when police arrived on scene and stated to police that he was involved in an altercation in Kennedy Plaza during which he was stabbed by a subject he identified as Diamond. Otero was able to give police a description of his assailant. Otero was transported by Providence Fire Department rescue to Rhode Island Hospital.
The suspect, identified as Diamond Wilson Wooten, age 18, was found a short time later in the area of Westminster and Dorrance Streets. Wilson Wooten suffered minor stab wounds on his left shoulder and right side of his back. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital before being taken into police custody.
At approximately 2325 hours, Providence Police were notified by the RI Medical Examiner's office that Otero was pronounced dead at RI hospital.
Diamond Wilson Wooten will be arraigned at 2pm today and charged with 1 count of murder.
