Firearm Arrest

PROVIDENCE: On Friday 12/14/12 at approx. 1845 hrs, Sgt Allen and Ptlm. Zilbert were working patrol in the Southside area of the city. Police observed Jeziel Lopez dob 11/24/93 standing outside of a vehicle talking to the vehicles occupants. The officer's directed their attention towards the vehicle and the subject and observed as Lopez looked towards Police and then said something to the vehicle's occupants and immediately ran away from the vehicle. The vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed westbound on Atlantic Ave as Lopez ran toward 134 Atlantic Ave. The officers observed Lopez clutch a heavy weighted object in his front hooded sweatshirt pocket, which had been swinging as he ran. After a brief foot chase Lopez was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a STAR-SA 9mm semi automatic pistol with six live 9mm rounds in the magazine and an obliterated serial number. Lopez was TOT Dets for charging.
