Providence Police arrest subject for multiple acts of vandalism in Mount Pleasant neighborhood
PROVIDENCE, RI- Over the past several months there have been a number of instances of graffiti in the City's District 6 area with the tags "OSA" and "SPOE" being spray painted on buildings. On March 20 at approximately 1716 hours, police were dispatched to 263 Academy Avenue for a report of vandalism to the building. Upon arrival police spoke to the complainant who stated that both his building and work truck were vandalized. The words "OSA" and "SPOE" were tagged on both the building and the truck.
Through their investigation Providence Police Detectives were able to identify a suspect (Michael Thibodeau, age 20), who was interviewed by Detective Teddy Michael last night. Thibodeau confessed to Detective Michael that he was responsible for the graffiti and that he spray painted the insignia "SPOE" on the building at 263 Academy Avenue. He stated that he did this approximately six months ago and also on March 20 at approximately 0200 hours.
Thibodeau was charged with Vandalism/Malicious Injury to Property.
"This should serve as a reminder that the Providence Police will not tolerate vandalism in our City and that violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said Colonel Clements.
