
Providence Police Detectives make apprehension in the May 10 homicide of Charles Bettencourt
PROVIDENCE, RI: On May 10, 2013 behind 172 Pine Street, Charles Bettencourt, age 21 of New Bedford, suffered from a fatal punch to the head by a subject who immediately fled the scene. Bettencourt was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital on May 11.
Through investigation, Providence Police developed a suspect and conducted an interview with him on May 31st regarding the assault and death of Charles Bettencourt. William Robertson, age 29 of Providence, confessed to the assault and was arraigned this morning. He was charged with 1 count of manslaughter.
The Providence Police Detectives who worked tirelessly on this case were Detective Lieutenant Michael Figueiredo, Detective Sergeant William Dwyer, Detective Emilio Matos, and Detective Daniel O'Connell
