Ribbon-Cutting to Open Providence Police District 3 Substation

Thursday, March 17, 2011

PROVIDENCE, RI - Mayor Angel Taveras, Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare, Police Chief Dean Esserman and the Providence Police Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, March 18 at 3:30 PM for the opening of the District 3 Substation, located at 1380 Broad Street.

The substation will serve the Elmwood and Washington Park neighborhoods, and is strategically located to enable officers to remain in the neighborhood and work in close partnership with the community. Lieutenant Alyssa DeAndrade, a 14-year veteran of the Providence Police Department, is the commanding officer of the area.

The new substation is located in the same building as Turning Point, a new residential facility for 14 veterans who were homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, and their families. Together, the new District 3 Substation and Turning Point create new vitality, activity and public safety in the heart of South Providence.
