
Richmond Street shots fired call leads to firearm and drug arrests
PROVIDENCE, RI- On January 17, 2013, at approximately 12:30am Providence Police responded to shots fired at Richmond and Friendship Streets and upon arrival located numerous spent shell casing at the scene. A vehicle with Massachusetts plates was seen fleeing the scene and a description of the vehicle was broadcast over police radio. Officer Michelle Chasse located and stopped the vehicle on Broad Street and ordered 7 men inside to step out of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle police found a black handgun located under the passenger seat where a subject identified as Jorge Ramiro, age 27, of Peabody, was sitting. Police also found Ramos to be in possession of marijuana. The handgun was a .40 caliber with obliterated serial numbers. The operator of the vehicle, Deiby Felix, age 29, of Lynn, had an active bench warrant and was also in possession of brass knuckles, marijuana, and a dog-face mask. Also in the vehicle was Daniel Henriquez, age 29, of Lynn, who also had an active bench warrant. All the subjects in the vehicle were transported to central station and turned over to detectives for charging.
Felix was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of brass knuckles, and an active warrant.
Henriquez was charged with an active warrant.
Ramiro was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence, and possession of marijuana.
Colonel Hugh T. Clements, Jr. said, "As we continue to take illegal firearms off the streets, an arrest like this sends a message to those involved in the gun and drug trade that illegal activity will not be tolerated in this City."
