Seizure of over two pounds of marijuana and an illegal firearm leads to three people charged

Providence, RI- During the month of September Providence Police narcotics Detectives Patrick Potter and Kris Poplaski conducted a narcotics investigation of Chanthorn Khunpasee, age 19, for distributing marijuana out of 19-21 Middleton Street and 100 Alvin Street. After a month long investigation Detective Potter obtained a search warrant for both locations.

On September 27 police observed Khunpasee, a member of the Providence Street Boys, exit the above address and enter a vehicle. Detectives followed Khunpasee and removed him from his vehicle and notified him about the investigation. Police then conducted a search of the Middleton Street location. Police seized a firearm, ammunition, three bags of marijuana, packaging materials, two digital scales, and 93 pills of Ecstacy/MDMA.

Also arrested on Middleton Street were other PSB members Steven Dy, age 19, and one juvenile, age 17.
Khunpasee, Dy, and the juvenile were charged with Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence, Controlled Substance Conspiracy, and Manufacture/Possession/Delivery of Narcotics.

Further investigation led to 100 Alvin Street 2nd floor, where a search was conducted. Seized at this location was over two pounds of marijuana, a digital scale, and packaging material. It was discovered that this location is the apartment of Khunpasee's mother.

"This is good police work and part of the day-to-day pressure that we put on those involved in drug and gang activity. In this case, we have identified gang members involved in the drug trade. This is more good work done by Detectives Potter and Poplaski who have just won Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's Top Cop Award in the narcotics category," said Chief Clements.
