PRESS RELEASE

MAYOR CICILLINE TO CUT RIBBON ON “ONE-OF-A-KIND” GREEN CITY PARK

August 20th ribbon cutting to showcase Brown Street Park’s unique public space and innovative playground equipment made out of donated, recycled materials

PROVIDENCE – Mayor David N. Cicilline will join the Friends of Brown Street Park to celebrate the transformation of Brown Street Park at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, August 20 at 10am on Brown and Creighton Streets, behind Hope High School.  The park has been completely transformed through the work of neighborhood residents with the help of Parks Department employees and dozens of local business and community partners.

New green features at the park include a shade sail made of recycled metal and used boat sails, sandbox constructed from old curbstones, islands of newly planted flowers and trees, serpentine bike rack, tractor-tire obstacle course and other playground equipment and amenities made from recycled materials.
