PROVIDENCE -- On Monday, December
23, 1996, at 11 a.m. Mayor Vincent A. Cianci, Jr. will welcome
representatives of Attitash Bear Peak Ski Resort's Operation
White Christmas to Burnside Park, where they will dump one
10-wheel dump truck of snow.
"Though the weather outside
is not frightful," Mayor Cianci said, "this snow, courtesy
of Attitash will be delightful, because, frankly, we won't have
to plow it."
Representing Attitash Bear Peak
Ski Resort will be Marlies Ouwinga, John Brown, Steve Landrigan,
Judy and Ed Golden (of Narragansett, RI and who winter at Attitash),
Stu Douglas, Sandy and Jerry Dahl. All are managers or employees
of the resort.
Attitash Bear Peak resort is
located in Bartlett, New Hampshire in the White Mountains, eight
miles from North Conway. The resort claims the most powerful
snowmaking system in New Hampshire. Staff members, all of whom
appreciate the fact that many Providence and Rhode Island residents
ski at Attitash, wished to demonstrate that appreciation by sharing
some of their snow with people in the heart of the downtown and
to spread the word that the ski runs at the resort are ready to
welcome Rhode Islanders.
WHJY Radio is serving as the
sponsor of the event.
The press is invited to attend.
