Dozens of street trees to be planted on Peace, Whitmarsh, Updike and Princeton Streets.
As part of the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program, neighbors of the Southside of Providence are gearing up to meet this Saturday, October 29 to plant about fifty trees over four street blocks. The trees will be planted on Peace, Whitmarsh, Updike and Princeton Streets.
Street tree coordinators will be available at 8:15AM at the corner of Peace and Updike Streets for a demonstration on how to properly plant a tree. Participants will work in teams of 2-3 people and are advised to wear boots and gloves, no open-toe shoes or bare hands. Coordinators are also encouraging planters to bring tools like shovels, pruning shears, sharp knives, small narrow saws, brooms and rakes.
