About the PEMA Press Room
The PEMA Press Room has the following regional capabilities:
- Ability to conduct and share live Television and Radio broadcasts from the Providence EOC;
- Ability to distribute via the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Rate Interface (BRI) to any participating RIBA member;
- Ability to connect with power, video and audio feeds any local mobile Television News truck; and
- Ability to produce video and audio content for direct feed to web and Podcasts.
Other Features include:
- Dedicated Sound-proofed Press Room;
- Permanent fixed digital cameras in the Press Room + EOC;
- Audio + Video (A/V) support equipment;
- Live Truck shore power + A/V connectivity;
- Live video web-streaming;
- Direct Email + Voice connectivity;

- PEMA was evaluated by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) in August 2010 and received EMAP accreditation on 27 October 2010. PEMA was recognized with a Press Conference in December of 2010 as the first municipality in the US to achieve this status.
- PEMA Director, Peter Gaynor, earned National Certification as a "Certified Emergency Manager" (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (June 2010).
- Major article written in Emergency Management Magazine about PEMA's Public-Private local initiatives.
- Port of Providence Chemical Sensor Port Project singled out by Security Directors News and Emergency Management Magazine.
