Three new volunteers have joined the team at the city archives. Robin Alario, a recent graduate of the School of Library and Information Science, is going to assist us in processing a large collection of 18th and 19th century writs and warrants. Robin brings a wealth of experience having worked in Special Collections at the Providence Public Library as well as processing and developing finding aids for the Rhode Island Historical Society and the John Hay Library at Brown University. Recently she began working on a history degree at the University of Rhode Island.
Brittany DiPippo, a URI history major, recently toured the City Archives with her class and decided to contact us about volunteer work. Her experience working at the National Archives for three summers will be a big help to us as we phase up our cataloging effort and continue processing early records.
Nancy Barta-Norton holds two Master's Degrees and has more than a decade of experience as a Technical Services Librarian. She is currently serving as the Acquisitions/Cataloging Librarian at the Johnson & Wales Library here in the Downtown and is very active on a number of library-related boards and associations. Nancy is going to assist us in organizing our graphics collections and her expertise in cataloging will be invaluable as we develop our electronic catalog.
They join six other volunteers who are working here on various projects. Welcome aboard!
