Vision Government Solutions, Inc. employees starting reassessment measurements and inspections this week.
The City Tax Assessor's Office has contracted with Vision Government Solutions, Inc. (Vision) of Northborough, Mass. to conduct the statutorily required three-year revaluations of taxable property. Starting this week, Vision employees - where permission is granted by the owner or tenant - will begin measuring the exterior and inspecting the interior of all qualified sale properties.
Residents are advised that Vision employees carry photo identification and letters of introduction from the Assessor's Office. The Vision employees are also registered with the City's Police Department.
Vision is also collecting data for approximately 2,400 outstanding building permits. Upon completion, residents will be notified via mail of the new proposed assessments in late February. Individuals will have an opportunity to discuss the revaluation with Vision staff to review their assessed property value. The new assessments will appear on the tax bills issued during the summer of 2013.
Residents and property owners can find additional information about the revaluation process on Vision's website: VGSI.com. Information is also available on the Tax Assessor's site: www.providenceri.com/assessor.
