The Providence Fire Department in partnership with the Center for Public Safety Excellence will host a series of workshops on becoming a nationally accredited fire department and also developing fire service leaders through mentoring. The workshops will be held at the Wyndham Garden Hotel located at 220 India Street in Providence.
The first workshop is a Self-Assessment Workshop and will be held on July 22-23. This 16-hour workshop assists fire and emergency service leaders in preparing for and working toward accreditation through a unique self-assessment model. The workshop provides valuable information on conducting an agency self-assessment and how to prepare for an on-site assessment visit.
On July 24, the second workshop is entitled Community Risk/Standards of Cover. Participants learn how to conduct a thorough self-assessment of your fire department's service delivery levels, identify and reduce your community's risks and hazards, and elevate standards of delivery throughout the department.
On July 25, the third workshop is entitled Nurturing Fire Service Leaders through Mentoring. Participants learn how to compare and contrast mentoring to various other leadership tools, cite the importance of the synchronization of succession planning, professional development and the organization's strategic pan, and describe steps necessary in the development of a formal mentoring process.
