Tobacco-Free Providence is supported by the Providence Healthy Communities Office in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Health and funded through the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We are working to build a healthier, safer, and stronger community that is free from the harmful effects of tobacco.
We have brought community members together to:
- Make it harder for underage kids to buy tobacco
- Prevent kids from buying single cigarettes, or "loosies"
- Limit two-for-one deals and other sales practices that make it easier and cheaper to buy tobacco
- Create tobacco-free schools, public housing, and other public environments
- Provide free nicotine replacement (patches/gum) and classes for adults that want to quit tobacco.
Together we are going to prevent kids from using tobacco, help people quit, and dramatically improve the health of all Providence residents. Please join us in our efforts to make Providence a safer, healthier place for kids and adults - free from the dangerous effects of tobacco use and secondhand smoke.
