Collector, Assessor, Licenses and Vital Statistics offices launch pilot program to make city government more responsive to residents.

On Wednesday, October 19, four city departments will be open until 7PM as part of a pilot program to make city government more accessible to residents. The Offices of City Collector, City Assessor, Board of Licenses and Vital Statistics will remain open until 7pm every first and third Wednesday of every month.
The pilot program to extend hours will enable more residents to conduct business with the city following their own workday. This comes as part of Mayor Taveras' commitment to making city government more flexible and responsive to all City residents.
"Residents and working families need the flexibility to conduct business with the city after their workday. Residents whose schedules make it difficult to get to City Hall during regular operating hours will now be able to obtain a birth certificate, appeal an assessment, pay a bill and take care of other business in the evening," said Mayor Taveras.
All services performed during the day will be available during evening hours at the Board of Licenses, the City Assessor's Office and in the Office of Vital Statistics. The Board of Licenses has also updated several forms which are now available for download on-line.
The services available at City Collector's Office will be tax payments, obtaining duplicate bills, clear city licenses and remove DMV registration blocks. The following services that will not be available during evening hours are: phone inquiries, municipal lien certificates, tax-sale redemptions and payment plans/settlements.
Bilingual services will be offered in the City Collector's Office until 5:30PM.
