On or about January 26, 2013 the end of the comment period, the City of Providence, Department of Planning and Development will submit a request to the HUD/Massachusetts State Office for the release of Community Development Block Grant funds under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (P.L. 93-383).
CDBG Yr. 38 Funding for PUBLIC FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS
Sophia Academy - $41,700 - Funding will be used for the removal of asbestos @ 582 Elmwood Ave.
Providence Community Library - $ 65,000.00 - Knight Memorial Library, 275 Elmwood Ave., front entrance stairs repair.
SWAP - $120,000.00 - Improvements will be made to the Trinity/Southside Center a new roof section to the theater complex. Funding to include the Broad Street business district identification/improvements will include signage, fencing and landscaping.
Olneyville Housing - $ 75,000.00 - Store front improvement to include the Dirt Palace @ 12 Olneyville Square with repairs to the façade using mosaic tile and beautification of Olneyville Square with banners, hanging flower baskets.
WBNA - West Broadway Elementary School - $ 9,000.00 Supply water to the first floor bathroom and renovate.
The activities proposed are categorically excluded under HUD regulations at 24 CFR Part 58 from National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. An Environmental Review Record (ERR) that documents the environmental determinations for these projects is on file at 444 Westminster Street Suite 3A, Providence, Rhode Island 02903 and may be examined or copied weekdays 8:30 A.M to 4:30 P.M.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the ERR to the Department of Planning and Development, 444 Westminster Street Suite 3A, Providence, Rhode Island 02903. All comments received by January 26, 2013 will be considered by the City of Providence prior to authorizing submission of a request for release of funds.
