Compliment/Comment: I am a resident of Princeton Ave and I have 2 children at 2 different busstops between the corners of Broad/Glenham Sts and Broad/Public Sts. I was absolutely delighted to see an officer in the middle of the intersection of Broad/Public (although I was nervous he was going to get hit) Weds 11/20, around 3:30pm pointing and pulling people over, doing his business with them, and then going back out for more. I'm not sure what his objective was (seatbelts I'm assuming), but I would like to say THANK YOU! My kids and I walk the block of Broad between Princeton and Public every morning and afternoon and on numerous occasions at both times, we've seen more than our share of ridiculously reckless driving and speeding, near-accidents, accidents where both parties just drove off, one occasion a guy thought driving on the sidewalk was a great plan, etc. Two different times this year, my son's bus monitor almost got hit by ignorant drivers speeding around the bus when it stops! Watching that officer on Weds, I was grateful he was there doing whatever check he was doing because the domino effect was the 4pm traffic was almost behaving itself and I wasn't scared to be standing on the side of Broad St for once waiting for my kids. Kudos to that officer who definately risked bodily injury (in my opinion) standing in that intersection and THANK YOU!!

Compliment/Comment: I'd like to commend Patrolman Michael Clary for his stellar service and caring nature. I was in a car accident and he did a thorough investigation after making sure I was okay. After completing the investigation, my car battery died, so Patrolman Clary stayed with me until AAA arrived to make I was safe. When I thanked him for his generosity, he assured me that he was just doing his job and that he hoped any officer would offer to stay with his sister, mother, or wife if they found themselves in the same situation. Patrolman Clary went far above and beyond his duty and obviously cares about doing an exemplary job and serving the citizens of Providence to the best of his ability.
Compliment/Comment: While on duty as the Desk Sergeant, I received a call from an elderly woman who wished to compliment two of our officers; she indicated that she is not very familiar with e-mail/internet technology, therefore I am passing along her compliment, at her request: On 12/-01/12, at approximately 2330 hrs, Ptlm. Heaton & Ptlm. A. Chin were dispatched to 12 Dickens St. to assist a citizen (keep the peace). Upon arriving, they were met by Catherine Threats, an elderly female, who complained that someone had disabled her heat, most likely a neighbor tenant, but that she couldn't get in contact with her landlord to make him aware of the situation. According to Mrs. Threats, "The two very respectful, pleasant and caring young men took the time to help (her) get in contact with the landlord, and get the heat back working for an elderly lady like me." According to dispatch records, Ptlm. Heaton & Chin spent at least 30 minutes assisting Mrs. Threats. She went on to say that she just wanted "to let their bosses know that they have some very good officers, and very nice, caring young men out there working for them and someone needs to know about them."
Compliment/Comment: Officer Michelle Rudolph, I would like to thank you for being so wonderful to both me and my son Trevor last friday night. He called me about 1:30am to come get him, you were with him and spoke to me on the phone giving me the address and assuring me he would be waiting safely for me. As I got close to that address my gps went down, at that same time you went back to check on him and had him call me to see where I was, when he told you about my gps you took the phone, asked me what street I was on then directed me right to him. I am deeply grateful for your care and concern that night and so very thankful for your efforts making sure he had someone coming for him, also, I appreciate you taking the time to direct me through that very congested traffic to get to him. My sincere thanks go out to you for going above and beyond for us that night.
Compliment/Comment: I wanted to walk on the east side and enjoy the architecture, landscapes, views of the city and I did. Then, I started looking for my car and couldn't find it. I walked all of Prospect, Congdon and most of Benefit back up to Prospect. It was now dark and I was not finding my car. There was a police action involving at least 3 police cars, so I figured I'd stop one and ask if he could help me look for my car after he found the crook or whomever they were looking for. He tried finding my car on his computer but I was one number off. He said he needed to help in the police action, but said he'd be back and for me to keep walking on Prospect. He did come back and we talked some more. He DID find my car and came back. I could see far down the street for what did look like my car and I thanked him. He said he wouldn't move on until he was sure it was my car. It was. He said he was glad I found my car, but I told him no YOU FOUND IT.
It shows Providence police can multi-task. He was helping other police on a police action, but he kept an eye out for my car. Thank you officer Benros.
Compliment/Comment: I was given a number (243-6219) by the RI Traffic Tribunal to try and get help with a ticket sent by. When I called the number today I got a voice message indicating that the officer was out on medical leave and Officer Costillo was covering. I left a message and was very pleased to have a call back within hours. Officer Costillo was knowledgeable and helpful giving me specific directions about how to address my concerns.
I was surprised to receive a call back so soon by someone covering for a colleague, assuming there would be a delay. I was also impressed by the professional manner of Officer Costillo.
I know in this day we are ready to complain and blame and often forget to compliment. So, thank you.
Compliment/Comment: I'd like to pass on to the chief some appreciation for one of his officers. I live on on the East Side and got a call from Officer Pete Baez, who had spotted my daughter's dog sitting outside our home near Blackstone Blvd. It's a small dog, which easily could have gotten lost or worse. He was waiting with the dog on his lap when I got home to retrieve it. Had that dog not been rescued, I'd have been in trouble with my daughter for a good 20 years. It's a small police action, I suppose, but it's exactly such small gestures that create big faith in the department.

Compliment/Comment: Officer Thiago Gomes is an outstanding officer. At the door of the station, Officer Gomes observed my distress due to complications with resolving a theft matter. He was kind, compassionate and exhibited true public service. It is my sincere hope that Officer Gomes is recognized and appreciated for the fine officer that he is and for how he represents Providence. Thank you Officer Gomes.

Compliment/Comment: On the above date (Sept 8, 2011) I had the pleasure of experiencing an 8 hour shift with Patrolman Matthew McGloin. I work as a Correctional Officer at the RIDOC and was excited to see what a typical night was like for a police officer in our capitol city. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Patrolman McGloin and I responded to a variety of calls ranging from simple noise complaints to multiple shots fired at a neighborhood home, and seemingly everything in between. What impressed me most was Patrolman McGloin's in depth knowledge of the local people within his district, local gang activity, and the district as a whole. We interacted with several local residents, most of which were uncommonly receptive and extremely appreciative of the difference Patrolman McGloin and his partner have been making since their arrival in District 4. Patrolman McGloin exemplified professionalism in every interaction that night. It became clear through the reactions of many of the residents that this is how he operates on a daily basis regardless of who is watching. Whether it is by coincidence or not, Patrolman McGloin personifies the department's motto of "Semper Vigilans" and, in my opinion, is a real asset to the Providence Police Department and the residents of the City of Providence.

On July 1, 2011 three motorcycle police officers (mc 2,3&4)
escorted a funeral for Joseph Morris from Fagan Quinn Funeral home ending at Swan Point Cementary. There were thirty plus motorcycles don't know how many cars.If they weren't there to help it would have been difficult. The three officers did a great job above and beyond they were most professional. What they did for us was just absolutely amazing. Just wanted to say thank you for
a great job. " When we do bad nobody forgets and when we do good no one remembers" .

Compliment/Comment:Thank you to all the police who responded so quickly to the carjacking on Union Ave. Our building was hit by the car and we felt very relieved to know that the armed suspects were apprehended. We are very grateful to the police for keeping our neighborhood safe. Thank you and may God bless and protect you all!

Compliment/Comment: Officer Darling and another male officer made every possible helpful effort in regards to a smash and grab to my car. Apparently they spent over an hour trying to contact me and reached me just as I approached my car and became aware of my situation. Getting my home address from my GPS that was recovered, they contacted my home police station and then me just as my mind was registering to contact police -- surreal!!! Officer Darling was very sympathetic and made a bad situation bearable on an evening that was supposed to be spent celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday... it certainly didn't ruin our celebration as we continued to the play we had tickets for and made it there with time to spare. Please recognize Officer Darling and the other officer who responded; in the chaos I forgot his name but want to make sure he is also aware of our gratitude. Thank you for the difficult work that you do!!!

Compliment/Comment:Today I had to call the police twice and both times my SRO officer from both middle and high school responded. It made me feel so much better when we could talk about something to get my mind off of what was going on in my home. I went to Mount Pleasant high school and we were able to talk about that and how safe I felt there. I just thank the fact of having 2 nice police men come to my house today and making my time much more safer and calm!

Compliment/Comment: thank you to the PPD for the very quick response. officers responding to the very loud music late night like this, warns the people that are committing these offenses from doing such things or even worst things again. now they know they have to obey the rules.

He is an outstanding community partner and works fearlessly to keep our kids and our staff safe. Not only does he keep us safe, he keeps us happy with his true commitment to the community. I don't think you can promote him to "KING"

Compliment/Comment: Dear Chief Clements, What an honor it was for our family to meet you and thank you so much for your help that evening! You are certainly a class act, and the City of Providence is so lucky to have a person like you as Chief of Police. I feel a lot better about my daughter going to PC knowing you are the Chief, because I know the citizens and students of Providence will be well protected. Thanks again Chief, and I hope to see you at one of my daughters games at PC. By the way, I hope you email me back, I forgot some of the names you gave me that I

Compliment/Comment: As a member of this year's Leadership Rhode Island class, I had the opportunity to participate in a Ride Along and was assigned to Officer O'Donnell's shift. I learned about how the role of law enforcement in maintaining a safe city links to the state's economic health. As a leader of an education non-profit, I was inspired to continue to play the role of ensuring our city's students are achieving academically so they have many career options, which is a key way of preventing crime. Officer O'Donnell is a great representative of the Providence Police Department!

Compliment/Comment: I spent today in a Leadership RI ride-along with Officer Jose Deschamps. It was a most interesting and informative day. I was very impressed with the community spirit that Officer Deschamps brings to the job. He was very interactive with the community, and clearly well-liked and respected. Today's ride-along gave me an entirely new and very positive view of Providence Police. I was sorry that it occurred in concert with the layoff of 80 patrolmen... I am sure they will be a loss to the force.

Compliment/Comment: I want to thank the officer (Patrolman Kenneth Wiggington) who came out to take my report today. He was very nice, handled the situation like a profesional, and got things done.
Compliment/Comment: My laptop was stolen on May 4th, the next morning I called the police and officer Corsetti came. He took my son to his friends house because that is where the laptop was. He got it back without incident and also spoke to my son about trying to make better choices. He was very professional and courteous. With all the bad stories you sometimes hear about the police department, I just thought something nice should be said.

Compliment/Comment: Since meeting Lt. Gannon, he has been an amazing community partner. Our team on Berkshire Street (Children's Friend Head Start), as well as the senior leadership team of the agency, very much appreciate his desire to work with us and keep our kids safe as violence continues around our site. He clearly "gets it" and makes himself available to us even when he is not on duty. This new partnership means a great deal to us as we make the safety of our kids our number one priority. His presence in our classrooms and his interactions with our kids is priceless as many of them lack a positive role model in their life. This partnership is just that... a real partnership! Kudos to Lt. Gannon!

Compliment/Comment: Officer Deschamps volunteered to come & read to my classroom for Dr. Suess Birthday. He was energetic & generally happy to help. He answered all of the childrens questions & even taught them about calling 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. Myself, my assistant, the children, & their families were all very impressed with Officer Deschamps. We would love to have him back again! :)

Compliment/Comment: Patrolmen Ramos and Troiano (badges 285 and 295) were incredibly kind and helpful tonight. They really went above and beyond the call of duty in helping me recover a stolen cell phone. Not only did they successfully recover my phone, they were incredibly profession and kind and really put me at ease at a stressful and anxious time for me. They were great!
