Adventure Camp

Adventure Camp - Takes place at Roger Williams Park from Mondays through Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and starts July 10th. Participants have to be from the North End. They learn how to play tennis, rollerblade, visit the zoo, the museum, and on rainy days, watch films. Camp Cronin
June 25th, 2007
Camp Cronin was named after the City of Providence's first full time Recreation Director, John Cronin. The property was donated to the City of Providence. The camp is located in Point Judith, Narragansett, Rhode Island. The famous Point Judith Lighthouse as well as the Camp Cronin Fishing area, are both within walking distance from the camp, and are visited by tourists and fisherman from all over New England. Camp Cronin has a recreation Hall that accomodates 40 to 50 people, and a dining facility. Formerly an over night camp, the main use now is to host day trips for both senior and youth groups. Youth groups are $5 per person, and the seniors are free. Outdoor cookouts, games & activities, fishing, visits to beaches, experiencing nature, and a day away from the city, are all part of the Camp Cronin experience. The camp is a great recreational area that includes a permanent Basketball and Vollyball court.
Senior trips take place on Tuesdays and thursdays, and youth groups attend Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. For further information and for scheduling you can contact either David Cournoyer Camp Director at 401-946-5134, or Nicholas Cannao Camp Program Supervisor at 401-421-7740 ext. 323.
The camp is also available to private groups and organisations that are interested in facilities at a reasonable price. Each organization would have use of the facilities on Saturdays and Sundays. Recreation Arts and Crafts Bus

Recreation Arts + Crafts Bus -
The Recreation Traveling Arts & Craft Bus began through the generous donation by Free Wheelers Association of a full-sized bus for the handicap to the department. We have transformed it to a traveling bus that provides arts and crafts, puppet shows, face paintings, and more to parks and recreation centers all over the city. The bus begins its tour on July 10th. Steve Piscopiello is the contact.

For the 10th Annual Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association's
TAKE - A - KID FISHING DAY
When: Saturday, June 14, 2008
Where Brewers Greenwich Bay Marina Warwick, Rhode Island
Time: 8:00a.m. to 1:00p.m.
The largest event of it kind in New England!
Over 200 kids, from many different organizations, will arrive at the marina at 8:00a.m. Then each child will receive a souvenir cap, receive brief safety instructions, meet the captain and mate of their boat, pose for pictures, and then go out fishing!
Fishing will take place between 8:30a.m. - 11:30a.m.
and everyone (approximately 50 boats) will fish in Greenwich Bay. At this time of year, Greenwich Bay is loaded with Bluefish which are fun to catch. RISAA members (at least two adults) will be on
every boat to help kids with the fishing. At noon everyone will be treated to a cookout of hamburgers, hot dogs and snacks.
*Rhode Island Law: every child MUST wear a life jacket, which we supply
The Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association (RISAA) is the state's largest saltwater organization, representing over 6,200 anglers and 29 affiliated clubs

We use kid size boats, fun games, and lots of encourage ment in a progression from basic instruction to more refined sailing skills. The underlying approach in all activities is to ensure thatstudents enjoy both the challenge and fun of sailing and to instill the principals of sportsmanship, leadership, and self-reliance in allof our youth sailors.
