Walgreens contributes $10,000 to event that brings together seniors for day of music, games and old-fashioned barbeque.
A huge tent at the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center will soon be filled with live music, sizzling barbeque and hundreds of seniors from throughout Providence. Mayor Angel Taveras today announced plans for the annual Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park, which gets underway this Saturday, September 29 from 10:30AM until 2:00PM.
Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park is one of several City-sponsored senior activities held throughout out the year made possible through generous contributions. Walgreens, the largest contributor, donated $10,000. Citizens Bank contributed $5,000. Aramark, Amica Insurance and Epoch Senior Living each contributed $1,000. The proceeds will be used to help fund Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park, and various other senior events.
"Thank you to all our corporate sponsors for supporting Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park and other activities that enrich the lives of our seniors," said Mayor Taveras. "Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park will be a great event and I look forward to celebrating with Providence's seniors!"
This year's Mayor's Seniors Day in the Park will feature a free barbeque lunch, live entertainment, a free raffle and fun giveaways.
