Protecting our Water Resources

Water resource management and storm water control is vital to a living community.

Achievements:

  1. In 1989, Providence Water began its Residential Retrofit Program, a water conservation program involving the installation of residential water saving devices. The program conserves water and reduces strain on the sewer system through the distribution of retrofit kits and the education of homeowners on the benefits of water conservation.

  2. Since 1996, nearly 37,000 feet of water main were replaced at 88 locations, resulting in a substantial reduction in water waste.

The Providence Water Supply Board is charged with managing the city's water supply.
