gourmet desserts, icre cream, breakfast
Sink into a comfy couch and watch the goldfish swim around in your table, which is also a functioning fishbowl. Jessie's provides a relaxed after-dinner atmosphere for the crowds emerging from the busy Italian bistros on Federal Hill. Take your pick from the old-fashioned ice cream shop side or the dessert bar side. Either way, you'll be tempted by treats such as creme caramel cheesecake or an imported strawberry gelato. Jessie's is also open for breakfast, and early risers can choose from an array of bagels, muffins and other continental breakfast items.
The clientele includes both families fresh out of the pizzeria and couples enjoying an impromptu date, and Jessie's makes sure that all are accommodated with both cozy love seats and larger tables. Adults can enjoy hot coffee laced with Kahlua or another flavored liqueur, and kids can dig into a good old hot fudge sundae.

Vegan Food
Melanie’s Vegan Eden is fairly new to the Fox Point neighborhood, opening in January, 2005. Owned by Melanie Burtt, (who has been vegan for 4 years and vegetarian since she was 10 years old), and her mother, Kimberly (who is not vegan, but enjoys healthy eating), Vegan Eden is a small space with a lot of character and personality. Customers will be surprised that the BBQ chicken drumsticks, steak and cheese sandwich, and the oven baked mac and cheese contain absolutely no meat, fish, poultry, or dairy. Since vegans avoid eating and using all products derived from animals, Melanie’s Vegan Eden is an oasis of rich, delicious and hearty foods for vegans who travel from all over the northeast to enjoy Melanie’s home-cooked meals. It is also a great place for those with lactose intolerance, especially when it comes to the desserts. Who thought you could find a creamy Oreo cheesecake or warm peach pie with vanilla ice cream that contains no dairy? And for anyone else looking for a healthy but tasty alternative, look no further than Melanie’s Vegan Eden. Here you will find delicious, reasonably-priced, and healthy food that makes you wonder how you ever thought vegan food could be boring.
Hours: Open Wednesday through Friday, 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, 1-7 p.m. Closed the month of August

Sushi/Japanese Food
Tokyo has been a favorite destination on Wickenden Street for almost 20 years. This popular Japanese restaurant, known for its delicious sushi bar, has been at its current location on the corner of Wickenden and Hope Street, since 1996. Owned by Liya Lau and managed by her son, Alan Lau, Tokyo is probably best loved for their wide variety of sushi on the menu. However, diners can also enjoy a wide selection of appetizers including miso shiro soup, steamed scallops with miso sauce and scallions, and the popular edamame, steamed soybeans. Entrees include tori teriyaki (chicken teriyaki), Sukiyaki (beef or chicken, tofu and veggies cooked in lightly sweetened soy sauce), and a variety of tempura choices. The restaurant has many regular tables, but there is also a room with traditional Japanese seating where customers sit on the floor and enjoy their meal the customary way. Tokyo is also available for parties and they can cater private functions. Whether you want a delectable variety of sushi or a delicious Japanese entrée, Tokyo has been and remains a winning choice.
Hours: Open 7 days a week, 11:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
