In Olneyville, there is a Salvadoran restaurant that is making quite an impression on locals who like mounds of delicious food at a reasonable price. Las Vegas Restaurant has been open for about a year and a half now and is owned and run by Fidel Medrano and his family. Las Vegas is most known for an original dish from El Salvador called a “pupusa,” which is a thick corn tortilla filled with a combination of meat, vegetables and/or cheese and costs only $1.25 each. You may also try “La Bandeja Salvadoreña” which is a plate of meat, rice, avocado, cheese, beans, a tortilla and a pupusa for only $8. Las Vegas also serves delicious fresh fruit juices made from exotic fruits like tamarindo (tamrarind, a sweet, slightly tart juice), chinola (passion fruit), and marañón (from the flesh of a cashew fruit). This family-run business is a wonderful place to try something new that tastes wonderful and is priced right.
Hours: Open Tuesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
