Mayor Angel Taveras, the Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the Celebrate Providence! 2013 Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative events for July 19th - July 25th. From music and dance to Opera In the Park, Mayor Angel Taveras' Neighborhood Performing Arts Initiative showcases the art of local neighborhoods in city parks throughout the summer. All events are free and open to the public.

Opera Providence Presents Virgins, Vixens and Vamps
Sunday, July 21 @ 5pm
Hopkins Square
Presenting partner: Opera Providence

The series features exceptional talent from all over the region. Each performance will highlight favorites from the operatic repertoire and popular Broadway hits.

The Wealth on the Water
Tuesday, July 23 @ 6pm
Fargnoli Park
Presenting partner: Elmhurst Clean & Green

One of Rhode Island's own, The Wealth on the Water Indy-folk band takes the stage. This three-piece band is known for their energetic live performances.

Block Party
Wednesday, July 24 @ 5:30pm
Harriet & Sayles Park
Presenting partner: Family Services of Rhode Island

A good old fashioned block party including DJs, face painting, photo booths, art and so much more.

Joe's Backyard Band
Wednesday, July 24 @ 5:30pm
Brown Street Park
Presenting partner: Friends of Brown Street Park

A night of toe-tapping, hand-clapping and good ole rockin' is in store with the up-beat eclectic music of Joe's Backyard Band.

Puppets w/Lisa Abbatomarco
Thursday, July 25 @ 6pm
Viscolosi Park

Presenting partner: Friends of Viscolosi Park
Enjoy an evening of family fun with a puppet show from Lisa Abbatomarco.

Contra Dance
Rachel Panitch, Andy Grover & Max Newman, with Linda Leslie
Thursday, July 25 @ 6pm
Dexter Training Grounds
Presenting partner: WBNA

Talented dancers from around the region will come together for a Contra dance performance. This evening will feature an intermission performance by some local students from Community Music Works.
